Absolutely! AccordRx is built with the latest security standards and industry best practices. Security is at the core of our platform and we ensure that our partners meet our rigorous standards.

We encrypt sensitive data at rest and in-transit and use token identifiers with no intrinsic value when referencing sensitive data elements.

Our Team is regularly trained on security best practices, cryptography, and protections against common vulnerabilities. Our platform undergoes continuous internal and external testing to stay ahead of the tactics adversaries are using to access sensitive information.

Every item comes from a licensed pharmacist. Only licensed pharmacies are allowed to list items on AccordRx. They may wish to list items to help reduce waste across the industry and help fellow pharmacists be able to economically source prescription drugs for their patients.

AccordRx does not engage in wholesale transactions. AccordRx does not take title or possession of a drug at any time.

In order to comply with the DSCSA and other legal requirements, AccordRx provides a marketplace which allows for a direct dispenser-to-dispenser sale of a de minimus quantity of drug for a Specific Patient Need or for a Declared Public Health Emergency.

All pharmacies using AccordRx must fully comply with the DSCSA. We recommend that buyers file all of their invoices from AccordRx separately from their wholesale invoices and record the patient name on the invoice in order to demonstrate that the purchase was for an identified patient.

At this time, we do not allow narcotic control prescription drugs and expired prescription drugs to be listed on the marketplace.

Sellers are required to list their prescription drugs below WAC pricing at the time they list the item. We require this so that we can ensure that our marketplace is valuable to all members.

If our data provider does not have WAC pricing for a particular item, we use AAWP to determine the maximum price for an item listing.

Details:

  • Minimum 10% discount below WAC – OR –
  • Minimum 25% discount below AAWP
  • AAWP discounts may not apply to generics

We do not have any other stipulations around pricing for an item. It is the Seller’s responsibility to abide by the AccordRx User Agreement and list prescription drugs in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal statutes and regulations.

AccordRx is not the Seller of the prescription drugs. You are buying items from other pharmacists across the country in order to improve patient access to medications.

Individual sellers on AccordRx set the sales price(s). Generally, the following factors play a role in this determination for an overstocked medication:

  • Expiration date
  • Quantity available
  • Package condition

AccordRx transfers funds between buyer and seller through bank-to-bank transactions using Automated Clearing House (ACH) processing. This enables you to send and receive money conveniently and securely.

We have a special arrangement with one of the largest payment processors to ensure that we can keep costs to the lowest possible rate. We charge just 1% to process payment on all transactions.

We do not accept credit cards, checks, money orders, or cash as payment options at this time.

AccordRx uses Automated Clearing House (ACH) to transfer funds into your account when you sell and item and to debit your account when you purchase an item.

We take security very seriously and we do not store your financial information in our system. We have no record of your routing and account numbers. We encrypt sensitive data at rest and in transit, and use token identifiers with no intrinsic value when referencing sensitive data elements.

The DSCSA stands for the Drug Supply Chain Security Act. It is a federal law which is Title II of the DQSA (Drug Quality and Security Act).

What does it do?

The DSCSA mandates a full supply chain traceability system from pharmaceutical manufacturer to pharmacy dispenser for prescription drugs in the US.

What does this mean for me on AccordRx?

You needn’t worry, we have you covered. We ensure that you can adhere to the requirements of the DSCSA, with minimal effort. Our platform has got you covered when it comes to reporting and adhering to the DSCSA.

Yes.

Anyone authorized to dispense prescription products to patients is considered a dispenser and has certain obligations under the DSCSA. This includes pharmacies, clinics, hospitals, physicians, long-term care facilities, and others.

The DSCSA provides the following definitions:

Authorized

In the case of a dispenser as having a valid license under State law.

Trading Partner

A manufacturer, repackager, wholesale distributor, or dispenser who transfers direct ownership of a drug product to, or accepts direct ownership of a drug product from, a manufacturer, repackager, wholesale distributor, or dispenser.

Specific Patient Need (DSCSA definition)

“The transfer of a product from one pharmacy to another to fill a prescription for an identified patient. Such term does not include the transfer of a product from one pharmacy to another for the purpose of increasing or replenishing stock in anticipation of a potential need.”

Industry interpretation for Specific Patient Need includes situations in which a dispenser has a prescription in hand for an identified patient, a recurring prescription for an identified patient, or written/electronic notice from a provider that a prescription for an identified patient is forthcoming.

A wholesaler distributor license is not required when a dispenser transfers a product to another dispenser for a specific patient need according to draft guidance from the FDA (FDA-2017-D-1956 Industry Identifying Trading Partners Under the Drug Supply Chain Security Act).

This is further backed up by findings from the National Community Pharmacy Association (NCPA) which published a DSCSA Fact Sheet in 2016 which found “The transfer of a product from one pharmacy to another (regardless of whether the two pharmacies are affiliated in any way) to fill a prescription for an identified patient is exempt from the definition of a Transaction” within DSCSA and is therefore not subject to the 3T requirement.

The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) also published a DSCSA Checklist for Pharmacies which included reference to the Specific Patient Need exemption.
